Ways To Save Money By Conserving Water

Every month you get a water bill. When you create your budget you allocate a certain amount for it. While paying a utility bill like the water bill is inevitable, paying so much is not. You would think that you can save on things like a car and clothing, but not on water. But you can also save money on your monthly water bill. Let me tell you how.

  • Turn it off. You can conserve water by turning the water off when you’re lathering up in the shower, shaving, brushing your teeth or doing the dishes. Only turn it on when you need it and turn it off when you don’t.
  • Sprinklers. Water your lawn only at night. Make sure all the water is going to the grass and not the sidewalk. Turn off the sprinklers when it’s going to rain. Set them up to water every other day instead of every day.
  • Collect rain water. Think of rain showers as a gift of free water. What are you doing with it? You collect and use the collected rain water to water your garden later.
  • Get rid of grass. There seems to be this fascination with having a large green lawn. You can have a more eco friendly front / back yard by not having so much grass and plants everywhere.
